Ancient Healing, Timeless Hela Ayurveda

Ayurveda, originating over 5,000 years ago in India, is a holistic system that combines mind, body, and spirit to prevent and treat ailments. Its Sanskrit meaning, “Science of Life,” reflects a timeless approach to nurturing overall well-being. These ancient practices have influenced eastern medicine for centuries, focusing on the interconnectedness of physical, mental, and spiritual health.

Sri Lanka developed its own rich tradition, known as Hela Ayurveda, which has been preserved and passed down for over 3,000 years. Rooted in the era of kings, Hela Ayurveda uses natural oils, herbal remedies, and balms to restore balance and harmony. Central to the practice are the five elements, or Panchamahabhuta — earth, fire, water, air, and space — which combine to form the three doshas: Pitta, Vata, and Kapha. By addressing imbalances in these doshas, Hela Ayurveda provides holistic healing, promoting physical vitality, mental clarity, and spiritual well-being for individuals across generations.
