Founder of Siddhalepa Balm, Kidney Specialist, and Astrologer
During the third quarter of the 19th century a distinguished citizen lived in Pingoda, Imaduwa, Walpola, in Galle District. He was Hettigoda Gamage Don Carolis De Silva, and though his main profession was cultivation, he excelled in Astrology and more skillfully as an Ayurvedic Physician. One of his sons, Hendirick De Silva Hettigoda studied Ayurveda and Astrology while the youngest son, the late Most Ven. Dr. Walpola Rahula, rose to the pinnacle of fame as a world renowned Buddhist Scholar.

Victor Hettigoda, Founder Chairman Hettigoda Group of Companies, was born in Kananke, Matara, Sri Lanka, in 1937 to a family of sound standing, reputation and respect. Victor was the fifth in a family of nine children. He received his education at Rahula College, Matara. Dr. Jinadasa Weerasinghe
Dr. Jinadasa Weerasinghe joined the institution from School Road, Nawala. He initially served in the Department of Ayurveda and later received a scholarship under the Colombo Plan to pursue advanced studies in Ayurveda in India. Upon his return to Sri Lanka, he was appointed as an Advisor to the State Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Corporation. After retiring from the Department of Ayurveda, he joined C/S Hettigoda Group as the Manager of Ayurvedic Production.
