Panchakarma

Panchakarma, a cornerstone of classical Ayurvedic healing, offers a complete, full-body detoxification through three carefully structured stages: Poorva Karma, Pradhana Karma, and Paschata Karma.

Spanning five to ten days—or longer for chronic conditions—this immersive program combines oleation, fomentation, purgation therapy, herbal enemas, emesis therapy, inhalation, bloodletting, medicinal treatments, and tailored diets.

Each guest is closely monitored by an assigned Ayurveda physician, ensuring treatments are personalised and adapted throughout the program. Designed for profound cleansing and rejuvenation, Panchakarma restores the body, mind, and spirit, leaving guests deeply renewed and balanced.

Poorva Karma:

Panchakarma begins with several preparatory measures, including the administration of snehana (oleation) and swedana (fomentation), designed to ready the body for the main therapies.

Next, begins the Nirama stage: Ayurvedic detoxification, that integrates herbal oil massages, heat therapies, and personalised elimination programs, all tailored to an individual’s prakriti (one of three dominant body types). The warm oil massage and sweat therapies increase circulation, purify the blood, and prepare tissues for safe elimination of accumulated toxins, protecting underlying structures.

Pradhana Karma:

The main part of treatment, it contains five cleansing procedures after the body has been prepared, as follows:

  • Virechana (Therapeutic Purgation) – This procedure cleanses the intestines, gall bladder, and stomach, and is effective against skin disorders, as well as chronic fevers.
  • Vasti (Medicated Enemas) – Meant for toxin removal and the rebuilding of the body, these are enemas with herbal concoctions and oil decoctions, effective against arthritis and constipation.
  • Vamana (Therapeutic Emesis) – This therapy involves the expulsion of excess mucus and toxins through induced regurgitation, clearing out the respiratory tract. This treatment is often used for asthmatic conditions.
  • Nasya (Nasal Administrations) – The application of medicinal oils and powders through the nostrils. The head and neck regions are affected here, particularly effective against migraines, sinusitis, and hormonal concerns.
  • Rakta Moksha (bloodletting) – This procedure is used to cleanse the blood, used for disorders relating to the skin, such as psoriasis, eczema, and acne outbreaks.

Paschata Karma:

The final and concluding stage of Panchakarma treatment. This involves the restoration of the body’s digestive strength and tissues, as the earlier treatments leave them purified, yet weakened.

Here, personalised dietary plans and herbal remedies are prescribed to support the equilibrium that needs to be restored. This phase also enhances energy levels and longevity, consolidating the gains of the preceding Poorva and Pradhana phases.
